Debbie has a long family history in Muskoka that dates back to a time when her great-grand dad came to settle on Lake Rosseau known as “Shennamere” when he purchased a farm there in the late 1800's.   She grew up on Brackenrig Bay near Port Carling where her grandfather owned and operated Penney’s Sawmill for several decades.

Debbie is Past President (2006) of her real estate board, served as a Director for the Lakelands Association of REALTORS® for several years and past President (2018) for the Ontario Realtor’s Care Foundation®.  Debbie was a founding Director of the Friends of the Muskoka Watershed until 2020 and remains a supporting member. In November 2022 Debbie was elected as Bracebridge Ward 1 Councillor and chairs the Public Art Advisory Committee.  She is also a member of Remember Every Name as Communication Co-Ordinator supporting Huronia Regional Centre survivors towards their truth and healing.

In her down time, Debbie enjoys camping, canoeing, photography, downhill skiing and spending time in her home on the Muskoka River.
